Frustrating....

I know several people that have been giving their babies table food far before Pediatricians suggest. Even though the babies have low vitamin levels, they still declare that, "it's just fine! My mother fed me the same way and there's nothing wrong with me." It makes me crazy. I don't understand how these people think they are so much smarter than the American Board of Pediatrics when most of them didn't graduate high school. These people need assitance to provide for their babies, and they get it from WIC. If you aren't aware of what WIC is, I'll share a little bit about it. It provides nutritional assitance to Women, Infants, and Children up to age 5. The primary services provided are health screening, risk assessment, nutrition education and counseling, breastfeeding promotion and referrals to health care. Supplemental food is provided at no cost to participants. I'm starting to think that the nutrition education that they provide, needs to be a requirement before the participants can recieve their, "supplemental food." It's absolutely rediculous to me that these women don't care enough to do their own research and make informed decisions.
